Mechanism of Action

Water vapor naturally migrates from areas of higher temperature to lower temperature. Hypak™ employs a specialized air barrier membrane on the warmer side of the thermal insulation and a waterproof, breathable vapour barrier layer on the colder side. This design integrates the function of a vapour barrier and breather membrane, ensuring balanced moisture management inside the building envelope. When used as a breathable wall wrap, the material helps control external moisture while allowing water vapor within the wall assembly to diffuse outward. This configuration prevents water vapor from penetrating the insulation and allows any infiltrated moisture to disperse. How does Hypak™ work?

The waterproof and breathable Hypak™ membrane covers the top of the insulation. The material itself is hydrophobic and is an excellent waterproof layer. It can isolate the condensation formed on the inner surface of the upper metal cover from invading the insulation. Hypak™'s excellent breathability allows the small amount of water in the insulation to disperse outwards in the form of vapor, keeping the insulation dry over an extended period for sustained thermal insulation and reduced energy consumption in buildings. At the same time, Hypak™'s great windproof performance improves the airtightness of the building envelope and reduces the heat loss caused by air convection, which further cuts energy consumption.
